Dubai Industrial City, a member of TECOM Investments, today announced Terrazzo Ltd, a flagship company of the Terrazzo Group and part of the renowned UAE-based Bukhatir Group, has commenced manufacturing a host of building products at its new facility in the industrial destination.

Occupying an 800,000-sq ft plot, the facility has a capacity to produce 4,000 blocks per hour and 88,000 blocks per day of hollow and solid cement blocks for the construction industry in addition to concrete pavers for infrastructure projects.

Terrazzo is currently the largest manufacturer of Cement Mosaic Tiles, Decorative Epoxy flooring and allied products in the Middle East. The company is also the region’s leader in the manufacture of Pre-cast and other concrete products, Glass Reinforced Plastic Products (GRP), Glass Reinforced Concrete (GRC), Prefabricated facilities (under the trade name TERRAFAB) and Rotomoulded Plastic Products (under the trade name POLYTEX).  It is also one of the largest processors and installers of Marble and Granite in the UAE.

Abdullah BelHoul, Managing Director of Manufacturing and Logistics Cluster, said: “We congratulate Terrazzo on the commencement of operations at its facility within the destination. The company’s decision to locate its factory in Dubai Industrial City reinforces our vision of providing the industrial sector with a cost competitive environment that is supported by world class business processes and a host of ancillary facilities and services. The decision also highlights the advantages of being located outside a free zone, which allows factories within the city to export their goods tariff-free across the GCC and the Arab world.”

Founded as a limited liability company (LLC) with foreign collaboration and technical know-how in 1976, Terrazzo began commercial production in 1977. Terrazzo has been fuelled by investments in sophisticated automatic machinery and innovative design. The company currently exports its products across the GCC region, Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya and South Africa. It has also earned the unique distinction of being the only Terrazzo tile company in the world to be accredited ISO 9002 back in 1997.

Lave Malhotra, General Manager, Terrazzo Group, said: “Terrazzo is synonymous with good quality products and known throughout the GCC as a leading manufacturer of building materials, which meets stringent international specifications. The new factory with additional capacity is aimed at sustaining our market leadership position as well as meeting the growing demand for our products in the UAE and the region.

“The decision to locate our manufacturing facility in Dubai Industrial City was taken after a meticulous assessment process. The industrial destination’s strategic location, service excellence as well as supporting services and facilities provide an ideally competitive environment, giving us a crucial edge over our industry peers. We have also found in Dubai Industrial City a willing partner that facilitates our operations.”

Covering 560 million sq ft near the new Al Maktoum International Airport and the Jebel Ali Free Zone and Port, Dubai Industrial City offers dedicated facilities for the manufacturing sector and hosts six zones including food and beverage, base metals, minerals, chemicals, transport and equipment, as well as machinery and mechanical equipment.
