The infrastructure work have been planned phase-wise depending upon the planned development of the Industrial city Infrastructure projects worth AED 770 million have been undertaken across the first phase of development in the city and are set to be completed by the end of 2010.. The above works comprise the following:
Roads
The construction of a 10 kilometers spine road linking the city from North to South, from the Emirates Road to the Dubai Outer Bypass Road, offering easy access to vehicles and trucks across the entire city. The spine road is a dual carriage way, each comprising four lanes on each side. Work is currently progressing to complete the second carriage way of the road, as one is currently operational.
The spine road is lit by night and it took 12 months to build at a cost of AED 250 million.
Also, collector roads as well as local roads in phase 1 of the project are under construction and are expected to be completed by the end of 2010. The main roads are expected to be completed by end of 2010 as well. The cost of the road works in this phase amount to AED 101 million. The roads have been designed to cater for the heavy traffic expected in the Industrial area.
Sewage Network
In addition, work on two Temporary Sewage Treatment Plants have been completed as the city operated the two facilities in August 2007 at a construction cost of AED 16 million. One of the plants with a 1600 cubic meters capacity would serve the first Labour Village and the Logistic Phase 1 in the city, the Labor Village has been completed and is currently occupied by 14,500 supervisors and labourers living in it, while the second STP, with 600 cubic meters capacity will serve the four office buildings in the city.
Engineering Studies for Permanent Sewage Treatment Plant were completed and the sewage network planned to be constructed in phase 1 amounts to AED 80 million and comprises sewage network, lifting stations and a pump station with a pressure main. The network in this phase is expected to be completed by December 2010 and currently construction work is progressing at full pace. This network will be connected to a modern Sewage Treatment Plant which will have the ability to produce effluent of a very high quality suitable for district cooling .The treated water will also be used for fire fighting. In addition the treated sewage effluent will be used primarily for irrigation and landscaping works and water features which will add to the beauty of the city and create a pleasant environmental impact.
Storm Water Drainage Network
Storm water drainage network planned to be constructed in this phase amounts to AED 109 million. The work is in progress and expected to complete by December 2010. The massive drainage work has been undertaken to keep the Industrial City free from water residues during the rainy season.
Irrigation network
An irrigation network worth AED 53 million is under construction and work in phase 1 is expected to be completed by the end of December 2010. The network will facilitate not only the irrigation and landscaping work across the city but also serve the purpose of establishing a firefighting network covering the entire city.
Water Network
Availability of water is one of the most important factors in any development. Construction of a water network to the tune of AED 45 million has been undertaken in the first phase of the project. The project is currently in progress and is expected to be completed by December 2010.
Telecommunication System
Construction of Telecommunication System in phase 1 of DI City, worth AED 26 million is in progress and expected to be completed in phases where the last phase will be completed by 1 st Quarter 2011. This will link the city directly to international markets.
Street Lighting
Street Lighting works worth AED 23 million is been undertaken in phase 1 of the infrastructure project that are currently under construction and are expected to be completed in phases where the last phase will be completed by 1 st Quarter 201.
The design of Phase 2 of the infrastructure works have been completed and the project is expected to start by the end of this year.
